Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 July 2026

1. Introduction

Brainclash (“the Game”, “we”, “us”) is a multiplayer trivia game featuring asynchronous, turn-based matches between players. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Brainclash, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Please also read our Terms of Use.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Sign-in data: Brainclash uses Firebase Authentication. You can sign in with an email address and password, with Google, or with Apple. Your email address and password are held by Firebase, not on our own servers. We receive basic account identifiers (such as an authentication token and the associated identifier) solely to create and secure your account.
  • Profile data: a unique user ID, your chosen username, an optional display name and avatar, your player level and experience points (XP), and your in-game statistics.

Gameplay Information

  • Match data: matches played, rounds, answers you submit, whether answers are correct, and your answer times. Answer timing is measured on our servers for scoring and tie-break purposes.
  • Statistics: total matches, wins, rounds won and lost, accuracy, win streaks, average answer speed, and best-performing category. Statistics are personal to your profile; the Game has no global leaderboard.
  • Friends and social data: your friends list, challenge invitations, and blocked players.
  • Messages: chat messages you send and receive through the in-game Messages feature. Messages are stored so they can be delivered and displayed.

Purchases and Virtual Currency

  • Records of in-app purchases and your Gems balance. Payment processing is handled by the app store (Apple App Store or Google Play); we never receive or store your payment card details.

Device and Technical Information

  • A device identifier, used to prevent cheating, fraud, and duplicate accounts.
  • Push notification tokens (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver game notifications.
  • Basic technical data required to operate the service, such as connection information and language preference.
  • Advertising identifier: our advertising provider may access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android). See Section 5.

We do not access your device contacts.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
  • To operate matches: selecting questions, scoring answers, measuring answer times, determining round and match results, and awarding XP.
  • To maintain your statistics, level, and profile badges.
  • To enable social features: friends lists, username search, match invitations, random matchmaking, and chat.
  • To send push notifications about your matches (new challenge invitations, your turn, turn-expiry reminders, match results, and daily bonus availability). You can turn notifications on or off in the settings.
  • To process and honor in-app purchases and manage your Gems balance.
  • To display advertising (see Section 5).
  • To prevent cheating, fraud, and abuse.
  • To handle player reports and moderate the chat feature.

4. Third-Party Services

Brainclash relies on the following third-party services, each of which processes limited data under its own privacy policy:

  • Firebase Authentication (Google) — sign-in with email and password, Google, or Apple.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — push notifications.
  • Google AdMob — advertising inside the Game.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution and in-app purchase processing.

5. Advertising

Brainclash is free to play and supported by advertising. There are two types of ads:

  • Optional rewarded ads: shown only when you choose to watch them, in exchange for Gems. A limit applies to how many count in a given period.
  • Interstitial ads: shown automatically between rounds. These can be suppressed for a period of time through the in-game remove-ads feature.

Our advertising provider, Google AdMob, may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads, in accordance with its own privacy policy and your device settings.

  • On iOS, we ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking across apps takes place. You can change this at any time in your device settings.
  • In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we ask for your consent to personalized advertising before showing ads, and you can withdraw or change that consent at any time from the Game’s settings.
  • If you do not consent, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.

6. Chat, Blocking, and Reporting

  • By default, only your friends can message you. You may widen this setting to allow messages from other players.
  • You can block any player. A blocked player can no longer message you, appear to you, or interact with you in the Game.
  • To report a player or a message, email us at bytewizards8669@gmail.com. Reported content may be reviewed to enforce our rules.

7. Random Matchmaking and Privacy

The random opponent mode lets the matchmaking system pair you with another player automatically. Players cannot manually target specific strangers. If you prefer not to participate, a privacy setting lets you exclude yourself from random matchmaking entirely — you will neither receive random match invitations nor be suggested to other players.

8. Data Storage and Security

  • Game data is stored in a secured database and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
  • Access to our systems is restricted to the people who need it to operate the Game.
  • Scoring, timing, and match logic run on our side, which protects both fairness and data integrity.
  • Every request to our servers is authenticated with your Firebase identity token.
  • We maintain regular automated backups, including off-server copies, to protect accounts and purchase records against data loss.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active.

You can delete your account from inside the Game. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your data is removed with no recovery and no grace period. Messages you already sent remain visible to the people you sent them to, labeled as “deleted user”. You can also request deletion by email (see Section 13).

Some records, such as purchase records, may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent you have given. You can exercise most of these directly in the Game, or by emailing us at bytewizards8669@gmail.com. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond what is described in Section 5.

11. Children

Brainclash is not directed at children under 13. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you must be at least 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the applicable age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated within the app or on this page, and the effective date above will be updated. Continued use of the Game after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Contact
